The 8th Gene Golub SIAM Summer School will take place at the Akademie Berlin-Schmöckwitz in Germany and will be held in conjunction with the SIAM Activity Group in Linear Algebra (SIAG/LA) International Summer School on Numerical Linear Algebra. The school is intended for Master and PhD students in mathematics and related programs who would like to learn about the state-of-the-art in the area of data sparse approximations and algorithms. The school will consist of four courses on the theory of sparse representation and approximation, tensor based methods and computation, algorithms for sparse numerical linear algebra, and sparsity in optimization. The lecturers of the school include
- Bernhard G. Bodmann, University of Houston, USA
- Lars Grasedyck, RWTH Aachen, Germany
- Serge Gratton, CERFACS, France
As already mentionded, the Summer School will take place in Berlin-Schmöckwitz from May 29 until June 9, 2017 and 40 well-qualified participants from all disciplines will be selected.
The deadline for applications is February 1st, 2017.
Further information on content and applications can be found on http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/numerik/G2S3/index.html
BIMoS will help with organizing the Gene Golub SIAM Summer School "Data Sparse Approximations and Applications".
