Research Focus:
My research interests are lifetime prediction and simulation models of different energy storage devices, such as batteries and supercaps. This includes testing and analysis of cells for understanding the mechanisms of ageing and operation as well as for parameterization of electrical, thermal and ageing simulation models. For testing, we have equipment for charging and discharging cells, impedance spectroscopy, opening cells and surface structure analysis. Simulation models are mostly equivalent circuit models but also finite elements and finite differences models, especially for spatially resolved electrical and thermal models. We use mainly MATLAB/Simulink, but also COMSOL, as simulation tools.
